I can't believe I'm saying this, but after listening to the new single, I have to say that Battle for the sun is actually better. For what it's worth is maybe more catching, but it's so shallow and doesn't sound like Placebo at all. I hate the noisy backgound, reminds me of The Killers for some reason.
And no, it's not so electronic. This didn't even came to my mind, only after I read your comments. They're still very rocky, but I can't get rid of that "The Killers feeling". Hope Placebo won't do the same mistake as Killers did with the awful Day and Age

Girls, has anyone watched XBOX LIVE? It seems only 3 guys from the whole net could watch it and no one could rip the vid or at least make caps. I registered an account at xbox.com but it doesn't help me, links to Placebo are not clickable for me. What should I do? Do I need that game programme to watch the video?

And I also found the 'For what it's worth' video, probably in HQ but I'm not sure.

frontman Brian Molko has told Rock Sound about coming to terms with his
fear of flying as the band stare down a world tour in support of new
album 'Battle For The Sun':

''When I was a kid I was
raised a born again Christian,'' Molko admits. ''So whenever I used to
fly a lot around Europe I used with my Mum who was the person who got
me into Jesus.

When I stopped believing in God I had this huge
fear of flying that came out of no where. I used to have to get
ridiculously drunk in order to even get on the plane and of course that
led to a whole bunch of different problems once I was onboard. To this
day I can’t watch any films with plane crashes or anything like that in
it whatsoever, I can’t watch anything that involves anything going
wrong on a plane, I can’t watch news reports of plane crashes and I
don’t read articles in the paper about plane crashes.''

I can understand, his fear, you're in a little tin can in the air, with nothing below,scary !

I live on the flight path beneath Manchester airport, there's been a few near misses with planes nearly crashing, on fire and such, it's put me off planes !

i watched the live vedio and i'm a little bit disappointed.

someone told me that little Stevie's kinda nervous thus performed not so well as he did in the MV of FWIW, however from my point of view it was okay even quite impressive.

The problem is Brian's voice, it's not typically Brian Molko, it's much weaker and thinner and lacks strength, sounds like someone who was forced to sing a song. I dont know whether it was the tuning failure or he was not in a good condition that day. I'm kinda worried about it.

I'm kind of worried too, it sounded like he wasn't breathing properly, which after years of singing, he would be a master of, I just hope it was nerves, singing in front of journalists. The proof will be at the weekend when Placebo do their first UK dates, lets hope his voice has recovered !

singing in front of journalists? well that might influence, i was stunned when he alomst couldnt breath in the middle of the performance.

anyway, the song itself rocks dramatically and it would be perfect if Brian could sing more decently.

Yeah apprantly that was part of the showcase they did for journalists, hope he improved for the rest of it ! Let's hoping he'll be on better form by weekend for the UK gigs, fingers crossed !

I finally get a chance to comment that BFTS performance.

Young Steve is full of energy, I really like him. He's very good drummer.

Brian's voice is a bit tired. And those mistakes in lyrics! Come on, I know lyrics 100% correctly, how he can mess up that?! And Brian looks A LOT better with that cap, he should wear it all the time!

I read in LJ that Placebo hadn't allowed fans to film the concert and securities asked people to switch off cameras and made some fans erase all from cameras

In LJ someone said 'there is a possibility to still access data from the card after formatting it'. I hope at the next gig fans will find a way to record new songs secretly. At least now they are warned. Anyway the quality will be poor and it doesn't impact on the album sale And the venue cannot hold all the people who would like to be there
