Helsinki 27.05.2007
Oh gosh, I'm still so excited about this gig so I may forget some details...
My trip started on saturday when I took a night train to Helsinki. I couldn't really sleep, I think I slept only four hours... So we arrived Helsinki at 8.30 am (I was with my twin sister) and we walked to Ice Hall. There was about 100 people there already. The day went pass pretty fast, I listened to music played cards while waiting... And, unfortunately, I wasn't prepared for sunny day as they had promised rain and half-cloudy day... so I burned my face in the sun! And, just that could be more ridiculous, I burned only the right side of my face Didn't notice anything before the gig though
Anyhow, the venue opened at 7 pm. Everybody just ran inside and I got pretty good place in the crowd. I was in the 6th row, closer Stefan's side than Brian's...
As the support band, Manboy, started to play my thrill grew. I didn't really like Manboy though I had heard one good song from them before.. but it didn't really matter any more when Placebo came on stage. Man, they're really awesome! I can't really remember much of the gig but at some point Brian said "Hei Helsinki" and Stefan said something more in Finnish, but nobody really heard what he said.. I think he must have said something like "koirankakka" since I've heard that's something he can say in Finnish (koirankakka=dog's poo, but never mind that )
They played Infra-Red first. It was pretty cool. They played Because I Want You, Meds, Drag, Space Monkey and Soulmates next. After that Brian apologized because they hadn't played in Finland for "ten fucking years", as he said People seemed to forgive him pretty fast After his speech they played I Know, Song To Say Goodbye,Follow The Cops Back Home (my favorite ).. I think it was Every You Every Me next. It sounded great as did Special Needs and One Of A Kind too. They really coddled us and played Without You I'm Nothing, Bionic, Blind, Special K andThe Bitter End too. Then then went off stage but happily they came back and played Running Up That Hill, Taste In Men and Twenty Years I really liked that version of TIM, because Brian and Stefan were singing to each other...
Unfortunaltely the gig had to end...
I bought two t-shirts for myself and one for my sister (what reminds me she hasn't paid me back yet )... There was many people who wanted to buy shirts, they run out of clothes pretty fast I think. That's when I noticed my burned face... I looked pretty awful but it didn't matter because I was too happy. So we went outside to take a taxi to airport and it was raining outside! And I don't mean a little rain, it was more like a storm... A thunder it really was. That was pretty much the best ending to the day as possible. So we went to the airport where I couldn't sleep and we had to wait till 5.30 am our flight... We arrived Oulu at 6.35 am and we went home. I took a shower and just after 8 am I was at school, still hadn't slept at all I think my biology teacher didn't really appreciate my half-sleeping on class...
And now I've been mostly sleeping since monday
I took lots of pics on the gig , but only 1/6 are viewable
I already posted these on Sweet-Prince so some of you may have seen these, but anyhow:

Wow, so you had a really good time there I'm so happy for you And I guess even the lack of sleep was worth it.
I like the 9th (Stef), the 12th (Bri) and the last of your pics
And with every review I can't wait less for the gig in Düsseldorf

Thanks for your detailed review. They didn't play Bionic in Moscow and I didn't pay attention to the new version of TIM, I think everything was as usual here.
You pics are better than those I took in Moscow, not so blurry, you are lucky You can lighten some of them which are too dark. Like this

It such a shame they didn't play Bionic in Moscow 'cause I think it's one of their best live songs...
Well I don't know if it was new or not since I hadn't been on their shows before but it was lot different than album version.Amethyst wrote:Thanks for your detailed review. They didn't play Bionic in Moscow and I didn't pay attention to the new version of TIM, I think everything was as usual here.
