A message from Stefan about his side project and a little info RE what Placebo are up to!

Hey,

Stefan here saying hi to everyone. Just want to say I’ve got an album coming out in June with my side project Hotel Persona. This is something I’ve been doing in my free time from Placebo over the past couple of years with some friends in London. It’s basically a collection of tracks we wrote for fun to play at parties, nothing to take too seriously! It’s pop music with a dancefloor beat, and lyrics sometimes bordering on comedy. Kind of exploring the entertainment value of music and making something a little more light hearted than what I am used to, something people with a couple of drinks in them could understand and sing along to! Some of the tracks are a little more serious and some quite intimate and fragile, and we’ve also got a couple of guests to bring some flavour.

Placebo is currently writing the next record and will record it this year, so Placebo fans shouldn’t be worried that this project is taking away from that.

Hope you can have some fun with it like we did!!

I have just watched that video and I think it's cool.

It's great that Stefan sings and he is very cute there.

I wouldn't like for Placebo that style (I mean electronic), but for HP it sounds nice.

The NOVA ROCK Festival, presented by Orange, will take place between the 19th and 21st of June 2009, on the Pannonia Fields II, in the beautiful village of Nickelsdorf, Burgenland. The festival is now in it's fifth year!(...)

PLACEBO TO PERFORM HISTORIC CONCERT AT ANGKOR WAT, CAMBODIA TO RAISE AWARENESS AND INCREASE PREVENTION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING

FIRST-EVER ROCK CONCERT AT THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE-LISTED 12TH CENTURY TEMPLE

PHNOM PENH / LONDON / BANGKOK 20 November 2008 – Placebo today joined a host of other international and local artists performing at a historic MTV EXIT concert to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking, a crime impacting millions of people worldwide. The concert will be held at Angkor Wat in Cambodia on 7 December.

Also performing below Placebo on the bill will be Duncan Sheik, Australian Kate Miller-Heidke, US group The Click Five and some of Cambodia’s biggest recording artists.

MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) is a project of the MTV Europe Foundation -- a London-based registered charity – to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking and exploitation. MTV EXIT in Asia is produced in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“We are incredibly proud to perform at this important concert,” the members of Placebo said. “We hope that through our music and involvement in this event and the MTV EXIT campaign that millions of people learn about this tragic form of slavery.”

And great thing they have already some dates of festivals!

I just want the date of new album coming out, so that I can wait for that day.

Yeah, I'm hoping for some normal indoor gigs in the springtime. Germany, perhaps....

Or Serbia, as second great idea.

I'm wondering will they play some new songs on Dec 7th?

About the interview Brian gave yesterday.

We could listen yesterday, live on air, the first interview Brian Molko has given with some little news about Placebo's 6th album to Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio Station 6Music. He also talked about their forthcoming gig in Cambodia and about his experience on Serge Gainsbourg tribute show last month.

Regarding the new album he said that they recordered it in Toronto, where they had found a productor they were interested in, David Bottrill (productor of dEUS, Muse, David Sylvian, Tool..). Brian pointed out that they were more relaxed recording this album than recording Meds, with more time for not 'to go over and over in the same stuff '. This album is more focused on themselves than the previous one, in which they had collaborations with other artists. He described the album as less dark than Meds, colorful, a bit heavier and more tender. The producer Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, My Bloody Valentine, Curve..) is now mixing the songs, it will be ready before Christmas and will be out in the Spring of 2009. He didn't say nor the specific date for the release of the album neither the title.

About the MTV EXIT gig in Cambodia, he said that the band felt very fortunate for taking part in such a special event against the human trafficking, and for playing in such an emblematic place in a country Placebo never had played before.

He also mentioned the fantastic experience that had been for him to be in the Serge Gainsbourg tribute show because it had been the first time he had sung with an orchestra.

Generally he seemed to be very enthusiastic and happy with the current moment of Placebo and with the album they are working in. We hope they will let us know more about the new album soon.

Yes, MTV must broadcast it, but I don't know which MTV. The Russian MTV probably won't

I have German and MTV Adria (for Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia). I doubt Adria will broadcast it, but I hope for MTV Germany!

i've been there once, i mean, ankor wat...how i wish i could see them there. it will be fantastic!

It seems like MTV Germany won't broadcast it.

But, I hoped for that so much.
