Placebo live in Munich, Germany 26.11.09
A 15 hour journey to Munich by train... This is how it started.
I fell in love with Munich during my stay in Germany last summer. I was there with my friend Asia.
Came 26.11.09 and suddenly we were there again. We got out of the main
station and instantly I spotted a poster of the gig plastered onto some
wall. Destiny? I sure knew it was. Being obsessed has it's reasons, you
know.
After a short nap @ the hotel it was time to head of to Olympiahalle. We met some other fans in the U-Bahn, which was an interesting experience. We didn't line up in the queue right away. I spotted 5 of their buses
parked by the street. We were both curious to see the guys, but by that
time they were already inside the concert hall.
We got in and took our places. After the film festival it was time for the support band- Expatriate to come on stage. Just before that happened Steve showed up and was all happy joking around with Nick and the technic guys. The fans acknowledged his presence, of course.
Once Expatriate stated playing, Brian showed up at the side of the stage. He was there for about 4 of their tracks. Quite an enjoyable view.
PLACEBO came on stage with quite an explosion of energy. The fans were playing it safe at first, but then it got raw and energetic. The boys were enjoying the performance. Stef kept catching Steve's attention also passing by Fiona. Brian's voice was in excellent condition.
setlist:
For What It's Worth
Ashtray Heart
Battle For The Sun
Soulmates
Speak In Tongues
Follow The Cops Back Home
Every You Every Me
Special Needs
Breathe Underwater
Because I Want You
Twenty Years
Julien
The Never-Ending Why
Blind
Devil In The Details
Meds
Song To Say Goodbye
Bright Lights
Special K
The Bitter End
Infra-Red
Taste In Men
The gig ended. Left us in awe... but the best was yet to come!
After
we left the building I dragged Asia to the buses. There was already a
small group of fans waiting. One of the technics appeared and told us
that the band is still backstage. We got all excited. Then one of the
buses backed up to the entrance and we knew that something was going on.
The crew asked us to form a queue, so as not to interfere with them packing the equipment, instruments, etc.
Then
all of the sudden a stirr occured. A small figure dressed in a black
and hooded coat appeared. BRIAN. He was heading straight towards the
bus, not minding us. Then Asia called his name and Brian took notice of
this and walked up to us. Marker already in hand, he gave us
autographs. Just the two of us out of the whole crowd. Green eyes
perfectly made up with grey shadow, a small smile curled on his lips.
Then he just said "Bye guys" and headed towards the bus. Just a few
minutes, but it let us speechless for a long time. After that Stefan
appeared. His boyfriend waiting on the side. Stef, with all his
politeness and sensitivity signed all that was offered to him. ;)
Fiona
was observing all of this. She seems a very nice person. Steve must've
showed up at the last minute, but we didn't see him.
All this was
more than I expected, even though I already met the guys after the gig
in Berlin 15.12.06, when Hewitt was still around. This was just......
WOW!
just a few pics:
