OK, here's my review:
When I've met Madeleine and her friend at 3.30 pm at the venue already about 100 people were queuing. After waiting for ages and with a 15 minutes delay the doors opened at 6.45 pm.
We managed to get a place in the third row and it was just perfect as we stood in front of Brian
At 7.30 pm the Howling Bells started there set. I didn't like them too much but it was a decent show. The singer even tried to speak German.
At about 8.30 pm (or 8.45 pm - I don't know exactly) the second support band "Satellite Party" started their set. I didn't know before that the singer was Perry Farrell ("Jane's Addiction" ;) ). It was really shitty. Perry Farrell is an asshole (IMO) and the backround singer (his wife) looked like a slut (REALLY - and I want to make sure everyone got me right here: I think she looked liked one not that she really is one ). During their gig a lot of people started screaming for Placebo so I think that they liked them as much as I did
Finally at 9.45 pm Placebo started. As for the setlist: It was the usual but without "Space Monkey" (no surprise), "Post blue" () and "Taste in men". Someone in the German forum said that TIM was on the setlist, but they couldn't play it because of computer problems... Whatever...
The crowd was going wild from the beginning. We even sang so loud that poor Bri had some difficulties to be louder than us. But he enjoyed it. After about three songs he introduced the band in German (as usual). Before "Drag" (I think it was...) Stef stood on one of the speakers that stood between the stage and the barrier... He was really close to the first row then A bit later Brian asked in German (!!!) "Did you see us on TV?" *screams from the crowd* "Was it shitty...?" *silence* "... or awesome?" *screams from the crowd*.
When they started to play "Special K" the crowd sang this "tadadatadada" part and both, Bri and Stef were smiling. After the second the verse they let the audience sing on it's own and after the half of this part Brian said: "I think you guys can do it louder!" and everybody sang from the top of his / her voice I'm not sure whether it was during "Special K" but once Stef came off the stage and walked along the barrier... Pretty close to us
Well, I think these were the most important things to tell.
I don't have to mention that the songs were all great. I especially liked "Meds" with the piano intro (I liked the others as well but I mentioned "Meds" here because they didn't play it the way they used to). I was a little disappointed about "I know" because Bri sounded a bit strange. But it wasn't his fault it was the crowd was singing so loud and as this is a quiet song I think it's hard to sing it loud.
I guess you are all waiting for the pics now. So, here you are:
I don't like this shirt... But he changed it soon. Actually he wore three different shirts yesterday
A slightly slashy moment, unfortunately it's pretty dark
For the "Bitch" lovers
Another slashy moment and again it's dark (I think my cam doesn't like slash )
Liked the colour here
Not the best pic but this is how Stef called us on to sing louder
For all the lovers of Stef's white guitar *waves to Cristina*
Brian standing on the edge of the stage right in front of us
Unfortunately I neither could take a pic of Stef walking along the barrier nor a pic of Steve who came to the front of the stage at the end of the gig
I don't think I have forgotten something important but I might have mixed up what happened before which song in the review but I'm sure Madeleine will correct me
Edit: I forgot to mention that Stef said "Fuck you" to someone in front of Brian I don't know why and he didn't say it through the mic but you could clearly read it from his lips.
Edit 2: The Setlist:
1) Infra-Red
2) Because I want you
3) Meds
4) Drag
5) Soulmates
6) I know
7) Song to say goodbye
8) Follow the cops back home
9) Every you every me
10) Special needs
11) One of a kind
12) Without you I'm nothing
13) Bionic
14) Blind
15) Special K

Glad you all liked the review and the pics Well, we stood in 3rd row but it was still close enough
Andreea, I love these pics, too: Stef with closed eyes and Brian on his knees. He seems even more tiny than he is. I wanted to cuddle him and I still do when I look at this foto
Yeah it was just great I sooo love Brian talking German. It's just too cute
I can imagine:laugh: I was a bit surprised seeing it come out of Stef's (!) mouth And his expressions when he said it was great. He kinda pouted. But nevertheless you could see that he was upset about whatever that guy did. Just a mixture of these expressions...

Re: 2007-06-26 Philipshalle Düsseldorf, Germany
Here's my review. Some of you like MarG, funny Valentine and Amethyst know this already...
At about 4:30 p.m. everyone stood up and started actually forming a queue. The parking lot was filled by now with people and cars. I must say that I'm amazed by the fact that there was practically no pushing and shoving. This differed at the gigs in Berlin and Warsaw. Around 6 o'clock the security was getting ready and a half hour later the doors opened. Once we were in, I grabbed my friend's hand and we ran to the barriers. We took our places in the front. To tell you the truth, at first I felt quite numb. I couldn't actually believe that we'd succeeded (after what we went through in Warsaw). Then came the support bands. Howling Bells- it was the second time I saw them perform (the first time was in Berlin). I was quite happy. I really liked them. Then came the second support band- Satellite Party. The lead singer is former Jane's Addiction leader- Perry Pharell. The guy really has a voice, but the image of the band and their performance…. Let's just say it turned me OFF (they could have at least sang Just Because, but no) .
Anyway…. The time came… All you could hear was " PLA- CE- BO". Then came the whisteling and exasperated screams of all the fans waiting for Molko & co. to quench their thirst ;).
At the sounds of INFRA-RED Steven , Stefan and Mister Molko took their places on the stage. IT STARTED.
The first song was like a wave… it grabbed us all and didn't want to let go. When Brian took hold of "his toy ;)" the crowd went mad.
BIWY was a shot of energy as well……. The drums beating into the rhythm of the bodies which collided beneath the stage.
Then came MEDS with the calm piano intro. The crowd seemed hypnotized by Stef & Brian singing in unison about the 'sex, drugs and complications'.
The follow up was DRAG, which I personally don't really like. Of course, live it sounds better then on the album. It would have been boring, but…….. while singing the line "I just gotta get off my chest that I think you're divine" Brian opened his shirt revealing a bare chest and driving fangirls nuts. Lol, that was something.
SOULMATES had that special intro which reminds me of Lady Of The Flowers every time. It was during this song that Polish fans took out their national flags with the sign "Come back to us awhile" written on them. A very friendly German girl helped my friend and myself in holding it up high!!! We were lucky enough to catch Brian's eye and smile at the sight of this! Our friends threw their flag onstage. They also received a reaction, but from Stefan.
During FOLLOW THE COPS BACK HOME Brian did the usual smoking act and spanked his little behind .
As most expected the crowd went really wild during such hits as EYEM, WITHOUT YOU I'M NOTHING, SPECIAL K and THE BITTER END.
During BIONIC Stefan came over to the barriers and let us touch him! Then he gazed up at Brian from below the stage as Molko leaned down and mouthed "I love you too".
BLIND was absolutely mesmerising, with a steady intro and Brian inhaling some cigarette smoke to make it even more hypnotizing.
The encores were RUNNING UP THAT HILL and TWENTY YEARS. RUTH was amazing… aaah it always get me! Then during Twenty Years I almost broke down because this song has such an effect on me. This time Brian wandered the stage so close to us, Stef too. The ending of the song was… orgasmic. Brian on his knees, finishing off the guitar. Stefan acting similarly on the other side of the stage.
After the show we went to the parking lot behind the venue and waited there with some other fans. After a few minutes a bus was leaving the parking lot and I saw Stefan inside! He was wearing his old hooded grey sweater. Then the security said they all left and told us to go home. We were about to go, when Stig showed up. He talked to some fans. I also went over and he started giving out random setlists. I was lucky enough to receive one as well!!! On the setlist Taste In Men appears along with other tracks. Stig explained to us why they did not play it. Something broke down and they couldn't.
Then some fan asked why they no longer play Space Monkey. Stig said that Brian doesn't enjoy performing it (strange) and on the other hand Steve does. LOL. It was about time to leave… and we were off to Cologne.
Left with our memories and emotions to dwell on…

Thanks a lot for your detailed review and the pics. I see you liked Satellite Party almost as much as I did And I can remember when Brian smiled at you during Soulmates. I wondered for what reason he did so in that moment

So you also saw Brian smiling then? What a relief because I thought I was hallucinating. Btw. I think we spoke about the gig at placebo.city if I'm right. Anyway, nice to see you here as well.
And as far as Satellite Party is concerned --->

Your friend is just too lucky! I wished I didn't have to see / listen to them. And Perry Farrell is definitely not even half as funny as he obviously thinks he is:guns:
